Hello and welcome to GCP Behaviour, Wellbeing & Education
I’m Sam, a specialist education leader with two decades of experience at the forefront of alternative education
WHAT'S MY EXPERIENCE?
Over 15 years of my time in education I have been in a position of senior leadership, with the last few years serving as a Specialist Headteacher holding a National Professional Qualification for Headship (NPQH)
I have dedicated much of my career to working in specialist, alternative and independent provision, working with complex and significant need. I have successfully led multiple Ofsted inspections and navigated my last provision to join Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI)
Part of my role has been to devise and develop school provisions supporting complex need. I am passionate about inclusion & reaching some of our most vulnerable children with emphasis on both academic and social emotional learning

WHAT TO EXPECT
Programs are designed and built to suit the individual needs. We work with local authorities, parents and carers & schools to develop quality learning opportunities for any child who is struggling. This may include re-transition back into school, managed moves, changes to the offer, recognition of undiagnosed need, adherence to Educational Health Care Plans, multi-agency collaboration and ultimately to meet the needs of the child to ensure they are given every opportunity to participate

WHY OUTREACH?
Outreach offers designated support for children aged 10 & above who are currently Education Other Than at School (EOTAS). Our offer focuses specifically on addressing Emotional School-Based Avoidance (ESBA) with the focus on re-engagement. Outreach offers us the platform to create child centred support acknowledging interest and strengths whilst challenging each young person to develop a sense of self & their place in the world

WHY ME?
Alongside my role as Headteacher, I led a project for the development of outreach transition pathway for pupils who, for various reasons, are not attending school. This forward-thinking approach aims to bridge gaps in education and provide tailored support to students facing unique challenges, ensuring that they, too, have access to quality learning experiences.
This project inspired my move to the GCP team where I am building an Outreach offer, creating opportunity for our young people, local authorities, parents & carers, developing intervention strategies to suit the specific needs of young people across West & North Yorkshire & Lancashire

WHAT DOES THE OFFER LOOK LIKE?
Outreach may look different for each child. Devising the correct programme is essential so we will liaise with families, carers, social care, schools & other professionals involved. Community approach is essential, as well as tapping into our young people's key interests.
